Emergency Appeal Launched to Help Local Families

With significant flooding in many of our Herefordshire communities over the weekend, Herefordshire Community Foundation has launched an urgent appeal for donations to the HCF Emergency Relief Fund.

The fund provides immediate financial support to local people impacted by floods and other natural disasters. The appeal follows in the wake of Storm Claudia. Last year HCF 78 households in the past four months alone.

Bridie Sullivan, Chief Executive of Herefordshire Community Fund, explains;

“Sadly, many local communities have first-hand experience of the terrible impact of floods. Last year, grants totalling £24,250 were awarded to help residents with urgent needs, such as paying for temporary accommodation, buying dehumidifiers or replacing damaged possessions.”

Donations to the HCF Emergency Relief Fund can be made online at www.herefordshirecf.org/donate.  Alternatively, write a cheque to Herefordshire Community Foundation and post it to HCF, The Fred Bulmer Centre, Wall Street, Hereford HR4 9HP.

Herefordshire Community Fund is a local charity with a 23-year track record of helping worthy causes in the county.  Households can apply for up to £200 and organisations can apply for a maximum of £500 from the HCF Emergency Relief Fund.
