Goal Smashed: Nine-Year-Old Floyd Raises a Huge £6,885 for George’s Fund

Congratulations to nine-year-old Floyd from Hereford, who has successfully completed his ambitious 145km challenge, raising a staggering £6,885 for George’s Fund – smashing his original £500 goal by over 1,137%.

Floyd undertook a month-long challenge in memory of his best friend, George. The boys were born on the same day, 29 September 2015, and sadly, just after their fifth birthday, George died from an incurable brain tumour.

In honour of George’s short and special life, his family set up George’s Fund, right here at the Herefordshire Community Foundation, to raise funds to support children in the county aged three to eleven.

For the entire month of September, Floyd ran, walked and cycled 5km a day, remembering George, who will be forever five. He crossed the finish line on what would have been their tenth birthday.

The whopping £6,885 Floyd has raised will help make a massive difference to children and their families right across the county. These funds will be invested to support projects that harness the power of nature to deliver long-term, meaningful impact to those who may be facing anything from mental health issues and bereavement, through to life-limiting illnesses and learning difficulties.

Floyd, your determination showed no bounds, and you inspired your community to get behind you for a cause so incredibly close to your heart. You should be so proud of this achievement and the team here at HCF can’t wait to see what you do next.
