Herefordshire Businesses Come Together to Support New Charitable Fund

At last week’s Herefordshire Means Business Expo at the Shell Store, Skylon Park, Hereford, Herefordshire Community Foundation launched ‘Business for Good’ – an innovative new charitable fund which is bringing businesses together to drive real change across the county.

Bridie Sullivan, Chief Executive of Herefordshire Community Foundation (HCF), explains “Businesses have been telling us that they want an easy way to manage their charitable giving, safe in the knowledge that it will be directed to causes that matter.  Just as many of us like to buy local, businesses told us they wanted to ‘give’ locally but weren’t sure where to start. The Business for Good Fund takes away all that decision making. Each business donates to a collective pot and then the HCF team ensures it makes a positive difference to the county.”

HCF is the county’s leading independent charity and has been awarding grants to grassroots community projects and those most in need across the county  since 2002.

HCF has a deep understanding of the county and the issues it faces, identifying and addressing local needs.  With a 22-year track record of administering, investing and distributing Funds within the county, donations will be in very safe hands.

All local businesses can join the Business for Good Fund, from sole traders and SMEs through to larger concerns.  They simply sign up online and donate £10 per member of staff per year.

HCF are excited to announce that it will be match-funding donations made to the Fund from the 7th May up to a total of £10,000 – so there’s even more reason to sign up as every pound donated will have twice the impact.

Frank Myers, Chair of Herefordshire Community Foundation commented, “I’m really passionate about Business for Good as it has the potential to bring about positive and tangible impacts to the many communities in need.  When you think it’s an employer donation of only £10 per employee and we have 97,200 employees in the county, then you start to see how huge this could be.”

There will be opportunities to get more closely involved by businesses which join the Business for Good fund if wished and each will receive window decals to display at their premises and a regular e-newsletter updating the fund’s activity.

Go to the Business for Good fund page for more information and find out how to sign up.
